TED Talks
TEDxBrighton, is Europe's largest TED Conferences gathering! Over 20 inspiring leaders, innovators, activists, and creatives sharing groundbreaking ideas in just 15 minutes each. It was a whirlwind of intellectual stimulation and a powerful reminder of how much we can achieve in a focused session.
I want to share a few nuggets of wisdom that really resonated with me:
🌟 Amy Polly: The Mindfulness Rebel
Forget dwelling on the negative! Introduce "funfulness" – add joy and play to your mindfulness practice. Focus on the "juice" of your day, the good stuff, and watch your perspective transform!
🌟 Kian Bakhtiari: Championing Imagination
We're facing a "Crisis of Imagination!" People have become passive consumers of reality, losing sight of their ability to shape the future. Kian offered a powerful antidote:
Embrace the beginner's mindset: Imagine new possibilities.
Challenge the norm: Don't be afraid to question the status quo.
Rekindle your inner child: Play is essential for sparking creativity.
🌟Jessica Chapplow : Harnessing Heartificial Intelligence
Jessica's poignant insights into the altruistic potential of AI , showcased how technology can be harnessed for humanitarian endeavors, exampling its ability to predict and respond to crises, potentially aiding millions of displaced people!
The key message? AI is a powerful tool, but it needs our active engagement to truly make a difference.
🌟Mo Kanjilal : Celebrate the Power of Difference
I could really relate to Mo's talk, especially coming from a South Asian background. Growing up, you feel pressured to conform to dominant narratives, anglicising your name, trying to not stand out. I back Mo's call to action of
Celebrate your differences!
Don't be afraid to stand out and be heard.
Practice active listening – truly listen to understand, not just to respond.
🌟Simon Squibb : Give Without Take
This serial entrepreneur and founder of @helpbank.com shared a powerful message about moving beyond "Give and Take" to pure, unconditional giving. He challenged us to embrace "Give Without Take" and experience the joy of helping others, simply for the sake of helping. Simon's closing challenge: Dedicate 4 minutes each day to helping someone without expecting anything in return. It's a guaranteed mood-booster!
